Latest Kidz Klub News!

22nd September 2020

Hi Kidz Klubbers, Parents, and Young People!

We said we’d get back to you when we had news about our programme for the new term. So here we go …

We’re kicking off with 2 online sessions: Make Someone Happy Week on Mon Sept 28th and Awesome Autumn Week on Mon Oct 5th (both at 6.00pm).

We believe that online is good because it gives us contact and interaction with kids and families, and provides enjoyment for them, but real live KKs are loads better! And our feedback tells us that real live KKs is what kids really want!

So from Mon Oct 12th we’ll be trialling an exciting new style of live and proper KK! It will start at KK Carden and be streamed to all the other KKs.

The aim is to launch this new style of KK at all our other venues across the city as soon as we have carried out risk assessments, made buildings Covid-secure, and agreed the guidelines we need to follow.

The new style can’t include our usual small clusters for workshops and activities. Instead we will be altogether the whole time for lots of fun and action (with chairs suitably spaced)!

Exciting new features (with some of them on the big screen) will include: “Is Your Room Tidy?”, special guest of the week, crazy characters, “Prank of the Week”, talent spots, and many of KK’s favourite items.

The great news is that the new regulation about 6 people maximum in “social gatherings” doesn’t apply to KKs! We class as an “out of school activity” and so the way is open to get going again at last (but obviously with strict guidelines)!

More details to follow (especially to youth about the new youth programme), and the
first KK newz sheet of the term will be with you soon!

We realise our plans may have to change if government guidelines change again!

All the best to you and your family,

The Kidz Klub Leadership Team.

Hi Kidz Klubbers, Parents, and Young People!

“Schools are back, so where’s Kidz Klub?!” It’s time to share news with you of our plans for the new term.

We are working very hard on a new programme. But it’s not straightforward. It’s not just a simple choice between carrying on online (like we did through the summer term) and restarting our Kidz Klubs and youth work as usual.

We are trying to work out how we can keep to the many new guidelines and regulations due to Covid-19. And we need to take seriously that many more young people are now testing positive.

Although it seems that children and teenagers often experience only mild symptoms (or even no symptoms), we’re told that they can still pass the virus on to older people and those with health problems. This could make it dangerous for some of our team members and also for members of their own families.

The usual style of weekly club where children and youth huddle together doing workshops and activities just can’t happen at the moment.

But here’s the good news! This gives us exciting opportunities to introduce some brilliant new styles and methods of Kidz Klub and youth work! So we’re planning a new-look programme, but it’s not quite ready yet. The new features all need to be carefully thought through.

When we’re ready to relaunch, of course we’ll let you know. We think that will probably be late September or early October.

Until then, please bear with us and be assured that we’re planning hard and are really looking forward to seeing you all again – in the safest possible settings!

All the best to you and your family,

The Kidz Klub Leadership Team.
